Ahi Tuna Poke Dish

A fair warning that this dish involves raw fish, however, this is a staple for any gathering I have recently attended. Signature dish, I like to think in this season of life.

Below are the basics—adding cucumber, avocado or rice as a first layer is your decision that depends on occasion.

Loaded with protein and tons of flavor, this ahi tuna poke is the perfect appetizer or side dish.

mango salsa

Mix the following ingredients in a mixing bowl or directly in your serving bowl as it will be the first later.

One fresh mango, a red pepper, and a small red onion all diced. Finely chop 1/3 cup of fresh cilantro and squeeze a tablespoon of lemon or lime. Sprinkle a bit of salt before mixing.

AHI TUNA

Pat dry your sushi grade ahi tuna, and then you’re to cube it into bite sized pieces. Add the cubed tuna to a mixing bowl and combined it with toasted sesame oil, soy sauce and salt. I like to add a sprinkle of Gochugaru Chili but that’s optional. Mix it well and then your topping is complete.

Spicy mayo

Next, mix Kewpie mayonnaise, Sriracha and a touch of soy sauce.

To form the dish, layer the mango salsa then ahi tuna and finally drizzle the spicy mayo. Top it with sesame seed, furikake, and a little chopped scallion.
