For healthy hair and to encourage growth, we must go beyond using the best shampoos, conditioners, and treatments. You also have to eat foods that are full of nutrients that will support healthy hair.

Each strand of our hair is made up of a protein called keratin. The raw material needed for our hair growth specifically comes from protein-rich foods.

Healthy Fats

Foods rich in healthy fats like walnuts, almonds, avocado, and fatty fish are essential to your hair’s health. Omega 3 fatty acids help nourish hair follicles, which support the strength of each hair strand and keeps them looking shiny. Also, avocados and almonds are high in vitamin E that helps to nourish both the hair and the scalp.

Broccoli

Broccoli is rich in folate, and when it’s low, it can lead to weak, thinning, and even brittle hair. Try vegetables like brussel sprouts and cauliflower which also have high sources of folate.

Citrus Fruits

Fruits such as oranges, grapefruits, and even papaya are full of vitamin C which is ideal for hair growth because it helps to protect and maintain collagen stores. If you’re drinking water, add some kind of citrus fruit to help encourage the absorption of collagen.

Pumpkin Seeds

Pumpkin seeds are packed with zinc which helps prevent hair loss. It’s also really good for your immune system.
