Beauty talk — body beauty that is. There are three topics every young women must understand. The first — seeing beauty in every skin color, second — erasing the fear of ‘fat,’ and three — why you need to stop thinking you’re ugly.
Beauty in Every Skin Color
Erasing the Fear of ‘Fat’
Stop Thinking You’re Ugly
Oh, I will comment on a girl’s photo saying she’s beautiful or stunning, but there should be no standards to beauty. We should be building up our self-esteems and others around us. Imagine what she would be like if her inner voice of criticism was taken away? She’d be more confident than ever, she’d be embracing her beauty, she’d be working on her heart and soul. That inner voice takes up a lot of time and confidence that we wish we had.
I’m not saying you shouldn’t change your body — you’re more than welcome to work on your future self. If you believe your future self will be so and so amount of weight or so and so shape, and you start today to work on it, girl, I will cheer you on! Similarly to a work ethic, start today for your future self to be grateful you did. Every girl wants to change something about her body shape or size, and many, many people hit the gym or eat differently or spray tan to do so. I am not any different — but I want you to get rid of calling yourself fat or ugly. Reclaiming yourself can be such a gorgeous act of self love and it can be anything from weight loss or gain, surgery, tattoos, or even just getting lash extensions.
I wrote about the Five Minute Journal before, about how if you repeat your affirmations over and over (especially if in the mirror) it will begin to happen, you will begin to not only believe it but do it and become it. Just the same with if you keep calling yourself ugly or fat, you will keep hurting yourself with such hurtful words.
PREPARING THE BATH — run the water and throw in some bath salts. Light some candles on the side for the ultimate relaxing effect.
DRY BRUSHING — WE FIND THAT THERE ARE MANY BRANDS YOU CAN CHOOSE FROM FOR DRY BRUSH FOR YOUR FULL BODY EXFOLIATION. Just look for Dry Brush to be in the name.
Increases blood flow and stimulates collagen production, which helps to strengthen the body’s skin. It also improves elasticity, so it’s great for lifting and toning. Start by brushing the tops your feet and go up to the neck (don’t do the face though!). Do this before you hop into the bath.
FACIAL — FIRST STEP IS TO CLEANSE AND EXFOLIATE.
Use any cleanser you use daily on your face. Exfoliating will brighten your skin if done weekly. Try a chemical exfoliant to remove the skin’s dead layer for your skin to brighten and for your products to penetrate through better.
STEAMING YOUR FACE — TO OPEN UP YOUR PORES AND HELP LOOSEN THE BUILD-UP OF ANY DIRT YOU MAY HAVE.
Allows for a deeper cleanse. Soak a hand towel in hot water and wring it out. Place and pat slowly on your face for 5 minutes. It gives you the same effect as a steamer, but many of us don’t have one. If you get the chance, a steamer does wonders.
FACE MASKING — DIY OR A STORE-BOUGHT MASK.
(Opt for an all-natural, homemade face mask every once in a while)
A weekly facial gives your skin a boost of smoothing and brightening to maintain your skin on track.
Use a rinse-off mask for a gorgeous glow.
Use exfoliating peels if you have breakouts.
Use a cream mask for dryness, instead of oil-based masks.

Bath — ever heard of the Korean half bath?
It’s a spa experience that helps boost circulation. Fill the tub to your belly button (in a sitting position) with hot water and soon you’ll feel hot and sweaty, but try to sit in for 15 minutes or as much as you can handle. The contrast in temperatures is the technique. Add in some bath salts for a relaxing effect on your body.
AFTER MASKING, USE A SERUM
Together with a face mask, a serum works like a power duo. A plumping serum is recommended. There are many effective serums from The Ordinary for your skin’s different needs. Apply, but use a facial tool to massage it in (next step)!
All recommended products are found on the shop tab at reenasedit.com
I definitely recommend serums for anyone who is concerned about aging. It’s a really good way to get extra anti-aging effects, more than your typical moisturizer and sunscreen.
Face massage — with a jade roller or gua sha stones, and a face serum.
The beauty benefits are making everyone own at least one of these tools. First and foremost, a facial massage is a stress reliever. By giving yourself a daily face massage, this ritual relieves tension. The gentle pressure to your face stimulates circulation, allows a gentle toning, and creates a lifting effect. Place these tools in the refrigerator, and when you use them, the cooling sensation also helps to calm your skin and depuff it.
Who’s going out for Valentine’s Day? Before you get treated by your man, treat yourself first. Spend the day before or the morning of for yourself.
Why do it?
1. Maintaining a healthy relationship with yourself boosts YOUR confidence. He will notice this as well. It produces positive feels for yourself which you give off to others around you — and on your date as well. Have a great evening without worrying about being self-conscious. A man loves nothing more than a girl who knows her worth and loves herself the same.
2. You ought to know that you and your needs are important too, before you have concern for others. It helps cope with stress and helps you prioritize what is important to you. You’ll be better able to take care of others when you also take time to meet your own needs. One cannot overflow their happiness into someone else’s cup if yours isn’t full first.
3. We have to look pretty on that date as well. A manicure or blow-dry will do wonders. Even book a facial for the day before. Have a relaxing bath, do a face mask and get to bed earlier. Valentine’s Day may be the only day of the year you glam up, so make the most of it. Do your makeup, wear your best outfit and your man will fall in love with you all over again — that night is for the both of you!
